Hunter Architecture Ltd. has developed an active practice in Marin County California and Boston's North Shore with residential projects ongoing in Cape Ann MA, Plymouth NH, Sausalito CA, Mill Valley CA, Tiburon CA and Belvedere CA.

The practice has two distinct thrust: the renovation and renewal of historically and architecturally significant homes AND at the other end of the spectrum he is designing and building new Contemporary homes that are at the forefront of carbon neutral design.

Of particular interest is The Wave, his latest contemporary bayside home in Belvedere. The home is designed with green systems and materials throughout and with the use of geothermal, and passive and active solar systems, is planned to reduce carbon emissions via a net zero energy usage strategy.

The firm has recently completed ten projects of historical and architectural significance. The most recent is the Renovation and Expansion of the Florence Nightingale Ward Villa in Belvedere, CA. This project for interior designer Paul Wiseman is featured on the cover of the California Homes, the influential magazine of architecture, the arts and distinctive design.
Also of note are The Sound of Music House, On Cape Ann, north of Boston and Moongate in Marin County CA. across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco.

Moongate was originally built in 1907 for the daughter of Valentine Rey, one of the original developers of Southern Marin . Daniel undertook a complete restoration, expansion and upgrade of the home and gardens. The project was begun in 1996 and completed in 2003.

The home has been recognized by the Belvedere/ Tiburon Landmarks society for its architectural and historic significance.

The Sound of Music House was originally built in the 1860’s. It was the summer home of playwright Russell Crouse of Sound of Music fame. Once again, Daniel undertook a complete restoration and upgrade of the home and gardens. The initial project began in 2002 and completed in 2008.
